El Cangrejo Bistro
Don’t be shy. There are times when we all crave for a certain kind of food. If you like seafood, you most likely love eating crabs. Crabs, however, generally have limited amount of “meat” in them and a few (even large ones) are never enough when you are in the “zone”.
Worry no more. Every Tuesday/ Thursday (6 pm to 10 pm) and Saturday/ Sunday (11 am to 2 pm and 6 pm to 10 pm), you can visit El Cangrejo Bistro in Quezon City to have your crab fix. They serve unlimited roasted pumpkin soup, steamed mud crabs (“alimango”) and australian sirloin steaks for P895 per person.
I generally like pumpkin soups and their version tastes good. Don’t get distracted though. One serving is enough since you need the space for the rest of the lineup.
This is their australian sirloin steak. I usually like to eat my steaks medium or medium rare. I’m not really sure if it was because of the cut and/or the wellness but the meat was a little tough. Fortunately, they poured onto the meat a generous amount of their gravy/ steak sauce which delighted me.
Now, let’s go to what really mattered. The mud crabs or “alimango” are mostly medium in size and meaty with a good amount of “aligi/alige”. Crab fat or “aligi/alige” is the yellow-orange material you see when you open up a crab. It is very delicious but full of cholesterol goodness. I can’t say enough of the steam crabs, they really are fresh and very tasty. The only thing holding me back is my allergy to crustaceans which I addressed by taking antihistamines and the fact that eating crabs especially cracking the arms and claws is a chore. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed my night and am already planning for my next visit.
