Chocolate de Batirol
Chocolate lovers behold. There is a place in Baguio where you could get your cocoa fix and it is the “Chocolate de Batirol”.
Definition: A “Batirol” is a small pot used for cooking chocolate. It is shaped like an urn, with a stirring rod that can be rotated using your palms.
On the first day of our Baguio trip, me and my friends decided to drop by Chocolate de Batirol on our way to explore Camp John Hay. They offer a number of chocolate drinks and treats, as well as meals. Their famous hot beverage is available in different blends such as traditional (no added flavor), Baguio (strawberry flavor), Cinnamon and Tang (orange flavor). I got the traditional blend since I wanted to taste their chocolate in the purest form while the rest of the group went with the Baguio blend. Both of them tasted pretty good but I slightly put the edge on the latter as everything tastes better with strawberries.
I wish I could bring some seeds back home but they will be of no use since I don’t have a place to grow them. I guess maybe next time.
The place offers good ambience for those looking for a place to lay back and spend the day surrounded by nature.
Overall, cocoa-heads should not miss this place especially when they visit Baguio for the first time. I would definitely visit them again when I come back to Baguio.
